Hello all, today I have finished the new and improved INK man by correcting all the bad geometry (GEO), adding three fingers and a thumb and smoothing him out in Zbrush with a finner tooth comb. Now with the previous version I had sort of a mitten hands thing going with two fingers but they ended up being more like lobster claws in the end. I figured maybe I could correct this by adding one more wider finger to substitute for the other two or three missing fingers from the hand letting the mitten hand bend more like you hand would in a glove with a small ability to have a index in some instances. like the draft below.
However after some consideration I figured it would be just as time consuming and give better versatility in the hand to just model separate fingers, going with the classic cartoon hand. The only downside to this was idea was potential loss in detail and fingers as his material is a glossy black. But after some test renders, I was please to find that there was no huge loss and actually a nicer specular level to the hand with extra curves provided by the new fingers and thumb.
